With more than 1,000 employees, organizational charts were critical to managing headcount at the Canadian division of one of the world's largest oil and gas exploration and production companies. Organizational charts proved an effective tool once they were in the hands of management. However, the company struggled with PowerPoint to keep the charts updated.

The Challenge
The company was tracking the numerous temporary and contract employees who had to be in the HR system after 30 days of employment. While organizational charts gave management the means to quickly identify which employees were not in the database, creating the charts was a manual and time consuming process. The published charts also gave them a quick tool to make sure that reporting relationships were accurate for all employees.

The company had been using PowerPoint and the charts took weeks to update and verify for accuracy before they could be published.

The Solution
The Canadian division experienced considerable growth over the last few years in part through a key acquisition of another Canadian oil and gas company. Through this acquisition, they also gained an HRIS Analyst who was using OrgPlus.
